Fundraising for a New Zealand home began in 2003. A property was purchased in Auckland in 2006 and the first intake of young women came into the programme in August 2007. The programme flexes from eight to ten young women in residence.
Staff include: Kerry Petrie, Executive Director and Makerita Siaosi, Programme Manager; who are supported by a Programme Assistant, Household Manager, Counsellors, and night and weekend support staff. A qualified nutrition health professional is contracted to A Girl Called Hope part–time. Residents access external specialist medical services as required. The Intake and Transitional Care Co-ordinators assist applicants to the programme and graduates of the home.
